Bom HC: Pre-Condition of Complaint Can’t be Insisted by Hospitals to Provide Care to Pregnant Minor - 12.04.2024

Bombay High Court while directing State Government to provide medical care to a pregnant minor girl who didn’t file complaint against her minor partner, has held that hospitals cannot insist upon the condition of registration of police complaint to provide medical treatment.

Karnataka HC: Can’t Direct Husband With 75% Disability to Pay Maintenance to Wife - 12.04.2024

Karnataka High Court while setting aside an order of the execution court has held that a husband with 75% disability cannot be directed to pay maintenance to the wife as he is no longer an able bodied man to search for employment and pay maintenance to maintain the wife and the child.

SC: Comments on Social Media Platforms Distorting Court Proceedings Require Consideration - 11.04.2024

SC observed that nowadays there is a misuse of social media on which messages, comments, articles etc. are posted in respect of matters pending in Courts. These comments, messages have tendency of undermining authority of Courts or of interfering with course of justice and require consideration.

CESTAT: No Service Tax to be Levied on Flats Construc. Prior To 01.07.2010 Having Less Than 12 Flats - 11.04.2024

Chennai Branch of the Customs, Excise, and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT) has held that no tax liability shall be imposed if the flats are constructed prior to 1st July, 2010 and has less than 12 units or flats.
