Delhi HC Denies Interim Protection to Chairman of UP Bar Council - 19.06.2020

Delhi High Court has denied interim protection to Mr Hari Shankar Singh, the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Bar Council, who has been restrained from performing his duties by the Bar Council of India pending the elections to the said State Bar Council.

SC: Person in Whose Name Vehicle Stands Registered on Date of Accident to be Treated as 'Owner' - 19.06.2020

Supreme Court has observed that, it is the person in whose name the motor vehicle stands registered, who would be treated as the owner of the vehicle, for the purposes of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

Uttarakhand HC: Non-Payment of Subsistence Allowance Violative of Article 21 of Constitution - 18.06.2020

Uttarakhand High Court has reiterated that payment of subsistence allowance to a Government employee placed under suspension is a matter of "right”. The Court further stated that the non-payment of such allowance is violative of the right of the employee under Article 21 of the Constitution of India, 1949.

SC Directs CBSE to Take Decision on Holding of Class XII Board Examinations - 18.06.2020

Supreme Court has directed Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) to hold consultation and take a decision by next week regarding the conduct of Board examinations in a plea seeking cancellation of Class XII exams which are to be held in July in wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

SC: Contingent Clause Cannot be Read to Mean Tenancy for More Than One Year Period - 18.06.2020
