Supreme Court has asked amicus curiae Senior Advocate V Giri to collect data relating to child rape cases from various states and place before it having taken suo motu cognisance of the “alarming rise” in cases of rape against children. Supreme Court Issues Notice to Centre on Plea Challenging Law for Abortion - 16.07.2019

Supreme Court has issued notice to the Centre about a Public Interest Litigation to reconsider the right to abortion. As per the existing law, abortion is legal only if it is performed until 20 weeks of pregnancy. However the permission of a Court is required for aborting a foetus which is more than 20 weeks old. The request sent by the Supreme Court challenges the law that makes abortion legal only to save a life.

Supreme Court Rejects PIL Against Delhi Govt's Decision to Install CCTV in Schools - 15.07.2019

Supreme Court has rejected a PIL challenging the AAP Government's decision to install closed-circuit television cameras in classrooms in Delhi schools and live stream the feed to parents of students. The Court did not agree with the submission that the installation and transmission of live feeds of CCTV to the parents would infringe the fundamental right to privacy as the kids are incapable to give consent and the parents' approval has not been taken.
