Apex Court has set aside the Telangana High Court's orders fixing fee structure of unaided minority and non-minority institutions for engineering courses for 2016-17 and 2018-19 academic years.Restoring the fees fixed by Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee, the Apex Court was severe in its criticism of the high court's decision to fix on its own the fees structure to be levied from engineering students in the State.

Delhi High Court Rejects Bail of Air Hostess Anissia Batra's Husband - 01.07.2019

Delhi High Court has rejected the bail plea filed by Mayank Singhvi, husband of flight attendant Anissia Batra. She had committed suicide in July last year. Ms Batra's parents have accused her husband Mayank Singhvi of physically abusing and harassing their daughter for money and as a result she killed herself.

ITAT Delhi: Tax Exemption Cannot be Denied Merely Because One Donation in One Year is Doubtful - 01.07.2019

Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) Delhi has ruled that the income tax exemption cannot be denied to a Trust merely because one donation in one year is doubted. ITAT Delhi further observed that there is no basis for the Revenue to hold that the Assessee received the donation of Rs. 85 lakhs in lieu of cash.

Delhi High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail to Air India Pilot Who Eluded Breath Analyser Test - 01.07.2019

Delhi High Court has granted anticipatory bail to an Air India pilot who was suspended for allegedly violating aircraft rules, including evading a breath-analyser test and forgery.The Court granted relief to Arvind Kathpalia on his request apprehending arrest in a case lodged against him on the direction of a lower court. He is also accused of tampering with evidence, criminal conspiracy and intimidating a doctor working with the airline in January 2017.
