Supreme Court Rules, High Courts Cannot Initiate Contempt Proceedings For Contempt of SC - 03.01.2017

Supreme Court, while quashing Delhi HC order finding Mid-Day Editor, Publisher and Cartoonist for Contempt of Court for publishing materials against former CJI Justice Sabharwal, has held that, High Courts cannot initiate contempt proceedings or punish for contempt of Supreme Court.
