Security and Risk Mitigation Measures for Card Present and Electronic Payment Transactions - Issuance of EMV Chip and PIN Cards

Due to difficulties faced by banks in only providing Chip and Pin cards to their customers from 1 September, 2015, the Reserve Bank of India has granted an extension. Cards issued under the Jan Dhan Yojana Scheme and other such government schemes will have to be Chip and Pin cards from 30 September, 2016 onwards, while for all other banks the extension is up to 31 January, 2016.
