Karnataka High Court Holds Mining Leases Granted in Violation of Rule 22-D are Void Ab Initio - 21.01.2026

Karnataka HC held that a mining lease granted in violation of the minimum area requirement under Rule 22-D is void under Section 19 of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act Act and, being void ab initio, cannot qualify for any deemed extension under Section 8A(3) of the Act.
