Gauhati HC: Only A Family Court Can Grant A Divorce under Muslim Law, Not A Civil Judge - 13.01.2026

Gauhati High Court held that a civil judge cannot authenticate a talaq or grant a divorce decree under Muslim law, and that only the Family Court or the District Court if no Family Court exists is the competent forum to adjudicate such matters.
