SC: Public Premises Act Prevails over State Rent Laws For Evicting Unauthorised Occupants - 12.12.2025

Supreme Court held that once premises qualify as “public premises” and the tenancy is lawfully terminated, the occupants become unauthorized and cannot seek protection under State Rent Control Acts, requiring eviction under the summary procedure of the Public Premises Act, 1971.
