Supreme Court: Ordering DNA Test is Unwarranted When Paternity Issue Has no Connection to Offence - 11.11.2025
Supreme Court held that DNA tests cannot be routinely ordered to determine paternity, emphasizing the presumption of legitimacy for children born within wedlock. Such tests must be used only when essential, avoiding privacy intrusion or illegitimising a child, and not for “fishing inquiries.”
