SC: Notice under Indian Forest Act Does not Transfer Private Forests to Maharashtra Law - 10.11.2025

SC granted relief to Maharashtra’s private forest owners, overturning the Bombay High Court’s ruling that had vested ownership in the State based on an Indian Forest Act notice. Citing Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd. (2014), the Court held that mere notice does not transfer ownership under the MPFA.
