Madras High Court: Customs Authorities Do Not Have Jurisdiction to Issue Directions under GST Law - 28.10.2025

Madras HC has ruled that Customs authorities lack jurisdiction to issue directions under Goods and Services Tax (GST) law. It invalidated a Feb 2021 Chennai Customs public notice that attempted to regulate the GST treatment of auctioned cargo, asserting such powers fall outside Customs’ authority.
