Madras HC: State Recommendation Alone Cannot Justify Seeking Caste Certificate for Scheduled Tribe - 22.09.2025

Madras HC questioned the Erode District Collector on issuing SC certificates to Malayali community members. The court noted that only a parliamentary enactment under Article 342 can include or exclude communities in the ST list and state recommendations alone are insufficient for certificates.
