Supreme Court: Police Need Not Verify Genuineness of Information before FIR Registration - 11.09.2025

SC reiterated that police need not assess the genuineness or credibility of a complaint before registering an FIR. If a complaint prima facie shows a cognizable offence, police are duty-bound to register the FIR.
