SC: Offences Under Section 172 to 188 IPC Cannot be Split to Bypass Section 195 CrPC - 21.08.2025

Supreme Court has ruled that Section 195 of CrPC bars cognizance of offences under Section 172 to 188 of IPC without a public servant’s written complaint. Offences closely linked to these provisions cannot be split to evade the bar, though police may still investigate.
