SC: Convict Completing Fixed-Term Life Sentence Can Be Freed Without Seeking Remission - 13.08.2025

The Supreme Court has held that convicts serving fixed-term life sentences without remission must be released once the term is over. The court, while citing Article 21 of the constitution has observed that in such cases, there is no need to apply for remission. and ordered Sukhdev Yadav's release.
