SC: In Rape Cases, Settlement Can be Done in Exceptional Circumstances - 17.07.2025

SC has observed that quashing of proceedings involving offences u/s 376 IPC on ground of settlement between parties should not be permitted lightly. However, power of Court u/s 482 Cr.P.C. to secure ends of justice is not constrained and must be exercised with reference to facts of each case.
