CCI looking into Cinepolis interest in DT cinemas
The Competition Commission of India is deliberating a proposed takeover of several DT Cinema screens in Delhi by Cinepolis India.
The acquisition comes not long after the CCI allowed PVR to acquire much of DLF’s ‘DT Cinemas’ business, albeit with some provisos. Indeed, it is those DT theatre locations which PVR couldn’t acquire for reasons of competition - DT Saket and DT GK-II - that Cinepolis has shown interest in.
Cinepolis commenced theatre operations in 2009 and has 226 screens under its various brands, of which 17 are located in Delhi.
