SC: Can Relax Requirement of Preliminary Inquiry if FIR Based on Detailed Source Report - 10.04.2025

SC has observed that in matters of corruption a preliminary enquiry although desirable, is not mandatory. In case where a superior officer, based on source report disclosing commission of cognizable offence, passes an order for registration of FIR, requirement of preliminary enquiry can be relaxed.
