Pre-2005 series of Banknotes - Revision of exchange facility

MANU/RDCM/0005/2016

After 1 July 2016, Pre-2005 banknotes will only be exchanged at Reserve Bank of India offices in the country’s larger cities.

Pre-2005 banknotes continue to remain legal tender, however the RBI has undertaken several steps in recent years to replace the ageing currency.
