SC: Court Ordering Re-Investigation Against Acquitted Accused Violates Principle of Double Jeopardy - 20.12.2024

Supreme Court while setting aside Madras High Court’s decision directing de-novo investigation against the accused for offences in which he was acquitted, has stated that such a direction by the Court amounts to violation of principle of double jeopardy under Article 20(2) of Constitution of India.
