Central government outlay for conserving Bengaluru’s lakes

Collaboration between the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and Environment Ministry will see round-the-clock online monitoring of all sewage treatment plants and lake water of lake water in Bengaluru.

Lakes are proposed to be “restored in a bio-diverse manner” and public-private partnerships are contemplated.

At present, 1320 million litres of sewage is generated daily while sewage treatment capacity is limited to 721 million litres. The Ministry of Urban Development has earmarked Rs. 887.97 crore towards sewerage systems.
