Supreme Court Seeks Centre’s Response on Whether S. 479 of BNSS Applies Retrospectively - 14.08.2024

Supreme Court while hearing a PIL on overcrowding of prisons in the country, has sought the response of Centre on whether Section 479 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 which provides for maximum period for which an undertrial prisoner can be detained, can be applied retrospectively.
