Supreme Court: Directions Issued to States/UTs for Prevention of Overcrowding of Prisons - 12.07.2024

SC has directed States of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu & West Bengal to file affidavits after considering suggestions made by Amicus Curiae in issues related to overcrowding of prisons in India. It further underscored the need for states to come up with effective & timely action.
