Calcutta High Court: Cannot Compel Lawyers to Cease Work for Protest - 01.07.2024

Cal. HC has observed that no one can be compelled to observe a strike or cease work. Lawyers discharge public function for litigants, thus resolution of Bar Council of West Bengal for a black day protest against new criminal laws shall not be treated as a mandate on advocates to abstain from work.
