SC: Stamp Duty Can be Imposed by State on Insurance Policies Executed Within State - 02.05.2024

Supreme Court while rejecting appeals filed by Life Insurance Corporation against a demand of stamp duty of Rs. 1.19 crore by the State, has held that the State Government can impose stamp duty on the issuance of insurance policies within its territory and require the payment of such stamp duty.
