All. HC: Can’t Declare Transaction Benami on Contractor’s Statement Without Relevant Material - 29.04.2024

Allahabad High Court has held that construction cannot be declared as benami under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, 1988 merely on the statement of the contractor doing construction work. Reasons to believe under Section 24(1) of the Act should be based on relevant material.
