SC: Idea of Punishment is Not to Keep Prisoners in Difficult, Overcrowded Prisons - 24.04.2024

SC while pulling up States and Union Territories on implementation of directions regarding jail infrastructure, has observed that the idea behind punishment is not that prisoner has to stay in a place which is so dingy, so difficult, so crowded, in such conditions that the person goes out more ill.
