SC Quashes Notification Exempting Earth Extraction For Linear Projects From Environmental Clearance - 26.03.2024

Supreme Court while quashing Center’s Notification has set aside an amendment that eliminated the requirement of environmental clearance for extracting the earth for linear projects. The Court termed this blanket exemption “completely unguided” and violative of Article 14 of the Indian Constitution.
