Paperless tax assessment expanded to Hyderabad and Kolkata

MANU/PIBU/0455/2016

Scheme for e-assessment for income tax has been extended to include Hyderabad and Kolkata for Financial Year 2016-2017.

The ‘paperless’ scheme allows taxpayers whose returns have been selected for scrutiny to communicate via e-mail, after their consent. Assessing Officers can be sent physical documents instead of scanned copies in instances when digitising the record is infeasible.

The scheme was commenced in FY 2015-2016 in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.
