Supreme Court: Efforts to Settle Civil Disputes Through Criminal Prosecution Must be Avoided - 23.01.2024

SC while observing that mere breach of contract doesn’t amount to an offence u/s 420 or 406 of IPC unless dishonest intention is shown, has held that effort to settle civil disputes which do not involve any criminal offence by applying pressure through criminal prosecution should be discouraged.
