SC: Litigants Liable for Contempt on Violating Undertaking Given by their Advocate - 08.09.2023

Supreme Court has held that willful breach or disobedience of an assurance in the form of an undertaking given by a counsel/advocate on behalf of his client to the court would amount to “civil contempt” as defined under Section 2(b) of Contempt of Court Act, 1971.
