SC to Courts: Don’t Grant Bail in Cheating Cases Merely Because Accused Agreed to Deposit Money - 05.07.2023

Supreme Court has reminded High Court and Trial Courts to not follow the practice of directing deposit of amount as a condition for granting anticipatory bail for the offence of cheating under Section 420 IPC, and observed that such a practice converts the cases into process for recovery of money.
