Policy on import of dogs

MANU/DGFT/0049/2016

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade introduced a policy on the import of dogs under the Indian Tariff Code.

Dogs are no longer permitted to be imported for breeding or commercial activities. However, canines can be brought into the country as pets, for reasons of research and for use by Defence and Police forces.
