SC Upholds Central Govt. Decision to Demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 Currency Notes - 02.01.2023

Supreme Court Constitution Bench has by 4:1 majority upheld Central Government’s decision in 2016 to demonetize the currency notes of Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 denominations and held that the notification was valid and satisfies the test of proportionality.
