Government rescinds Notification on premature EPF withdrawals

The Central Government notified withdrawal of Notification dated 10 February 2016 which amended rules regarding withdrawal of funds from the Employees Provident Fund. Under the old rules employees were allowed to withdraw the entire amount from the fund, but to promote a ‘decent accumulation’ of funds for later in life, the government had imposed restrictions - premature withdrawals being limited only to the employee’s share.
