Guj HC: Don’t Casually Authorize Detention in Offences With Imprisonment Less Than 7 Years - 20.09.2022

Gujarat High Court has held that where offence is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may be less than seven years or which may extend to seven years, police officers must not arrest accused unnecessarily and Magistrate must not authorise detention casually and mechanically.
