Sub-Committee to report on issues related to excise duty on jewellery

The Central Government constituted a Sub-Committee under the High Level Committee to interact with the jewellery trade and industry to determine issues associated with the newly imposed Central Excise Duty on all jewellery. Broadly, the Sub-Committee will look into compliance procedures, including maintenance of records, and forms to be filled. Till finalisation of the recommendations, the Department has issued clarifications to ease compliance with the tax regime.
