SC Strikes Down 10.5% Reservation in Tamil Nadu for Vanniyars - 31.03.2022

Supreme Court has struck down the 10.5 percent reservation in Tamil Nadu that is provided to Vanniyars, a Most Backward Community (MBC), in government jobs and admission to educational institutions. The Court has stated that caste can be a starting point but can’t be the sole basis to decide backwardness for granting Reservation.
