Real estate bill passed, aadhaar number changes rejected

The Parliament kept up its newfound legislation fervour, approving the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill, 2016, which aside from providing a forum for builders and buyers to sort out their differences will also encourage respecting contractual obligations in the real estate sector. The Lok Sabha also confirmed passage of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Bill, 2016 by a voice vote. Having previously passed it as a money bill, the Rajya Sabha could only suggest amendments to the Bill, which were rejected by the Lok Sabha.

The Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2016 was introduced in Lok Sabha on 16 March 2016. The Bill addresses concerns about stringent compliance requirements, in efforts to improve the ease of doing business in the country.
