SC: Deadline of 4 Weeks to Claim Ex Gratia Payment on Death of Kin Not Sufficient - 22.03.2022

Supreme Court has said the deadline of four weeks for claiming ex gratia payment from authorities on the death of kin due to COVID-19, may not be sufficient as the families of the deceased would be distressed due to the loss of family members. The Court has indicated that a period of 60 days would be given to all such persons who are eligible as on date to apply for the ex-gratia compensation and 90 days shall be given to the future claimants.
