Madras HC Confirms Conviction of Ward Members of Vridhachalam Municipality for Defamation - 16.02.2022

Madras High Court has confirmed the conviction of four former ward members of Vridhachalam Municipality under Section 500 of Indian Penal Code, 1860 for having printed and circulated a handbill describing the then chairman M. Valluvan, as mentally unstable. The Court has set aside the six-month imprisonment ordered by the trial court and has directed the convicts to pay the fine amount alone.
