BIMSTEC Convention to be signed and ratified

The Union Cabinet approved the signing and ratification of the Bay of Bengal Initiative on Multi Sectoral Technical Matters and Economic Cooperation Convention on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. BIMSTEC, comprising Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand, hopes to control transnational criminal activity, such as drug and cyber crimes and money laundering, through greater cooperation and assistance of signatory nations.
