SC Upholds Conviction of Mother-in-Law for Cruelty Against Daughter-in-Law - 12.01.2022

Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a mother-in-law for the offence of cruelty under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, observing that when cruelty is committed by one woman against another woman the offence becomes more serious. The mother-in-law was found guilty of having committed cruelty against the daughter-in-law when her husband was abroad.
