Madras HC Imposes Costs of Ban on Filing PILs For Challenge to Govt Retirement Age Policy - 30.09.2021

Madras High Court has imposed costs to the tune of Rs 5000 on a petitioner who had who had challenged the State government's February 2021 decision to increase the retirement age for government officials to 60 years from the earlier 59 years. Additionally, the petitioner was also barred from filing any Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition for two years without obtaining the previous leave of the Court.
