Budget: It’s that time of 2016

The Parliament’s 2016 Budget Session may prove a misnomer yet what with 16 Bills waiting in the wings and another two to be introduced. Amongst the new Bills up for consideration are the feisty-sounding Enemy Property Bill and the sure-shot Election Amendment Bill. The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and the Indian Institute of Management Bill, 2016 are set to be introduced in Parliament during the course of this session. The Indian Institute of Management Bill purports designating certain higher education institutes specialising in management as being of national importance, and calls for elevating their quality of education and scope of research conducted.

Continuing with the tradition of encore is the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Second Amendment) Bill, 2014, otherwise known as the ‘Goods and Services Tax’ reform to bring homogeneity in indirect taxes across the country.
