Indian Telecom Services Performance Indicator Report July-September 2015

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released performance indicators for the Indian telecom sector for the quarter ending September, 2015. The Report provides an overview of television, radio, fixed and wireless telephone penetration and internet usage. September 2015 saw India’s teledensity increase to over 80 per cent of the population, much of it coming from increased telephone subscribership in urban rather than rural areas. Internet subscription increased somewhat as well. Eschewing the trend of faster adoption of slower forms of internet, the quarter witnessed an 11 per cent increase in the number of broadband users and a decrease in narrowband internet connections (slower than 512kbps).
