SC: Witness Cannot be Prosecuted for Perjury for Inconsistent Statements Before Court - 04.08.2021

Supreme Court has observed that a witness cannot be prosecuted for perjury under Section 193 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 merely because he made inconsistent statements before the Court. The Court has observed that the prosecution for perjury cannot be ordered if there is no intentional falsehood uttered.
