Calcutta HC: University Cannot Deduct Portion of Salary Without Obtaining Consent - 29.07.2021

Calcutta High Court has opined that a University cannot deduct a portion of the salary of its employees, as donation, without obtaining their consent in a plea filed by professors of the Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan against the order of the Registrar compelling them to donate a day's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, West Bengal/West Bengal State Emergency Relief Fund.
