Karnataka HC Dismisses PIL for Action Against Alleged Police Atrocities During Lockdown - 16.06.2021

Karnataka High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation filed by an advocate seeking directions to concerned Station House Officers to register First Information Reports (FIR) against the police officials who allegedly tortured lockdown violators. The Court has held the petition to be frivolous, containing unsubstantiated allegations and has imposed a cost of Rs 1,000, which is to be deposited with the Karnataka Legal Services Authority within 30-days.
